How does it work in Scotland?
Scotland uses local Assessors per council, not a centralised VOA. Same idea, different paperwork.
In Scotland the Council Tax is administered by the Scottish Assessors Association (SAA), with each council having its own Assessor responsible for valuations. The valuation date is 1 April 1991, same as England, and bands are A–H. To challenge, you contact your local Assessor directly (find them at saa.gov.uk), not a central body. We generate the same evidence appendix and a Scotland-specific cover letter explaining the case. Appeals against Assessor decisions go to the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland Local Taxation Chamber within 6 weeks.
